I started training with Dennis in mid-December, first with a 3-session intro pack before investing in the 24-session package.  I'm probably 2/3rds my way through that training package now and I have to say that I've been really happy with my progress.  My goal is weight loss and muscle building.  I didn't see much weight loss the first six weeks or so mainly because we were adjusting my macros and nutrition to see what body needed, but my fitness level and strength have definitely improved a ton.  Now that we've dialed in my macros we're starting to see the pounds come off.

I've worked out with a variety of trainers over the past 10+ years, some were from a company gym, 24 Hour Fitness, Fitness SF and a DIAKADI private trainer. Dennis is definitely one of the better trainers I've had.  He's a professional trainer vs. a part-timer like you generally find at a chain gym and that means he's really focused on you hitting your goals.  I can check in with him anytime with questions, which is great.  He's actually the first of all my trainers who's suggested tracking macros and paying close attention to my nutrition.  

I'm really happy with our progress to date and will definitely give another update in a couple months.  If you're shopping for a trainer I suggest you give Dennis a call.

Backstory: A friend of mine got into a weight loss/exercise journey and looked so great that I wanted to get back on the fitness train. It has been around ten years since I last truly worked out with weights. I messaged Dennis requesting a consultation, but he informed me he was completely booked at the time, but I would be placed on a wait list if I gave my availability. Dejected, I didn't feel like looking again for another trainer (after reading all his perfect reviews, how could I go through all that trouble to look for another one?). After a couple of weeks, I decided to put on my big girl pants and would do a search later on in the day. It must have been my lucky day because later on that day (before my an extended search), he texted me with some availabilities.

I hopped on the dates he provided and bought a full package. I have just completed the full package and purchased another one - and will probably be a very long term client. Why, you ask?

Okay yes, I will admit that counting calories and macros was very much not my style, but holy bananas - I did not even realize how many calories I consumed on the regular. In the less than 2 months, I have dropped over 5lbs, gained a bunch of strength, and feel like Dennis is such an amazing, supportive person to have as a personal trainer. I went from not being able to do a single sit-up to being able to do 4 sets of 20 on my own. (I laugh-cry about it now.)

Service: Dennis will gently guide you throughout your journey. He knows what you can handle and what you can't. He'll push you, but in a very encouraging, affirmative way. He recommended some exercise equipment for me to use on the days I'm not working with him. I went from just walking around 5 mi./day to adding 4 weight days and 2 cardio(ish) days (sorry Dennis, I tried so hard but I really hate cardio) and following really closely to the nutritional plan and I've seen a huge improvement on my body - some of my clothes don't even fit in the same way anymore. AND! He also explains what he's doing, what muscles are targeted, and he adjusts weights more or less, depending on how well you're doing. He also keeps detailed notes on what was done.

Gym: It's a fully loaded gym with weights, machines, and treadmills. He sprays and wipes down the mats before each usage. While masking is optional at this point, he respectfully keeps his on for the time being.

Honestly, if you can get a spot with him, pull the trigger. It's worth every dollar as long as you can be truthful to yourself on what you're able to do, stick to the plan, and use all the tips he has. You will get to your journey with him, I am certain of it. I am recommending him to everyone!

I came across Dennis' personal training services on Yelp and I am very happy with all the sessions I've had the past few weeks. I was relatively active doing spinning, bootcamp and OrangeTheory classes for years. However, things changed when the pandemic hit and I resorted to a more sedentary lifestyle with the switch from 100% working from home. I needed to get back into a structured routine to shed some weight I gained from the past year and a half.

Dennis is very pleasant and he gives very insightful advice on nutrition, muscle building, proper form, and these workouts are quite challenging. I have been training with Dennis for half a year and it has been such a great experience! He makes working out interesting and fun. He motivates me and is always encouraging. Five stars doesn't do Dennis justice. I came to Dennis because I needed a structured program with my workouts including my nutrition. After talking with Dennis during the consultation, I decided to sign up for his online coaching program for 8 weeks. Dennis set me up with a workout routine including my nutrition based on the info I provided him: physique pictures, weight, height, age, work schedule, and gym equipments that I have at home. Till this day, Dennis has always kept me on my feet and always checked up on me. It feels awesome to have Dennis as my coach. He's been nothing but helpful, responsive, and always answering my questions when I needed help with my nutrition and workouts. I highly recommend Dennis if you're looking for a trainer!

Dennis has been training me for about 8 months and I am more than happy with my experience. Since I've started with him, I have noticed a significant difference. I started training with Dennis just after recovering from a full body injury and had lost a lot of muscle, and wanted to mindfully get back into working out. Dennis made sure to craft a plan for me that took into account my injuries, and I was still able to make a lot of progress despite that. I'm now fully recovered and continuing to see and feel new muscle definition on a regular basis. Dennis truly cares about his clients' progress, and is very in tune with how you're feeling or your energy for the day. He is a great listener and always respectful, and provides encouragement in a way that makes you forget you're working so hard. During my first session with Dennis we had a discussion of my goals. What did I want to achieve through a training program? I had 3 goals: 1) to build upper body strength 2) to gain weight and 3) to become more conscious about eating healthy. I was impressed by Dennis' directness and honesty. He said it would take time but it was important to track my macros and not  to overdo my daily activity level because I am very thin and older. (I'm 60 years old!) After a year and a half, we've seen improvement. I can see and feel the changes in my body. I've got more definition in my skinny arms and have gained weight (not reached our goal yet, though). More importantly, I feel good after each session! Although I complain at times during the training (I hate 'curls'!), Dennis challenges me. He pushes me a little bit more but never more than I can handle. I've come a long way and it's due to the hard work with Dennis as my trainer.

I just finished my introductory package with Dennis and I am so excited to purchase my next round of sessions!

I have always been yo-yo dieting and recently had a weight plateau that I couldn't shake. I'd run miles and still didn't feel like there was any difference to my body. I've always been intimidated by weight training, and I just assumed I'd never be able to get into it because I wasn't strong enough and just not in shape.

Dennis has been able to help me weight train and opened my eyes to a whole new workout routine. I can now feel more confident when I walk into a weight room and no longer feel embarrassed that I don't know what I'm doing or hurting myself in the process.

After losing quite a bit of weight and getting borderline underweight, I went to see Dennis to get out of my skinny-fat funk and start shaping my body. Working with him has really changed my approach to fitness. He's setup a workout plan for me, taking into account my body type and my mentality towards working out. It's been really successful so far. Seeing him every week keeps me motivated to not only push myself in our sessions but to also follow his regimen while I'm in the gym on my own. I love being able to track my progress as I feel greater endurance and am able to lift heavier weights week after week.

Dennis is very passionate about his job and loves to see progress in his clients. If you're in the gym week after week not really sure why you're going through the motions, go talk to Dennis - Going to the gym will no longer be a chore but a hobby!

Finding a personal trainer that is the right fit, and will keep you constantly motivated, is no easy task. I scoured through Yelp listings (and took recommendations from friends), when looking for a trainer. After meeting with Dennis, I was pretty convinced by his realistic, yet motivating attitude. He was honest, and guaranteed he'd be cognizant of my limits, while still pushing me to meet my goals.

He offers an intro package - 3 classes - which is a great deal IMO, and allows you to see if it's a good fit. In addition to his training sessions, he also takes the time to teach about eating habits and macros. If your goal is to lose weight, and get in shape, he teaches that eating right and working out needs to be done hand in hand!

Dennis sent me an email following our first session with a list of the most commonly consumed foods, to help me understand what falls under what macros: Carbs, Fats, and Protein. Whenever I had questions or concerns, he was the one who encouraged me to text him and keep the convo going to stay on track! This is a service that def isn't offered with other trainers I've met w before.

Scheduling was a bit difficult at first, but Dennis is great about reaching out when something opens up. His schedule seems more packed these days, but if you're more flexible in hours (middle of the day), it might be easier.

All in all, still working on the fitness, but having Dennis as my coach/trainer/friend has been a life-changing asset. 10 stars! :D

This is a long overdue, well deserved review. Dennis and I used to go to the same middle school, I remember seeing him around campus. One day I found Dennis though his fitness profile on Instagram and I was really impressed by his transformation from the kid I saw years back till now. I had a specific fitness goal I was looking to achieve and wanted to find a trainer to help me with that. I looked through Instagram for other local trainers, and had the idea in mind that - the trainer's body is a reflection on their work. I looked at a few trainer's profiles, but was not satisfied with what I saw. I remember previously seeing Dennis' fitness profile on Instagram, so I went back to check out his work. The images I saw of himself and client's was what I was looking for.

I reached out to Dennis, and he was very quick to respond and very professional. He was able to schedule sometime to meet with me for a consultation the following week, and I started out with his 6 session training package. He is very sharp and knowledgeable about diet, building muscles, burning fat, the right combination of what to eat and how to workout, and more. He had one space available and was able to get me scheduled in for the next 6 weeks. He has a very organized structure for managing, connecting, and maintaining his sessions and relationships with clients, I am very impressed. He also put together a custom diet plan for me - counting macros, which was very doable.

Dennis makes sure to make the most out of the time that you have with him. I left each session with the knowledge and confidence to be able to go to the gym myself and continue with what I learned. After each session, my muscles were sore, but it's the good kind of sore, the kind you want to go back for more sore. He also makes sure that your mindset is healthy, because everything is tied together, and that is important to make sure that you are successful in all areas to be able to achieve your fitness goals. Dennis also keeps you very accountable, and I really appreciate that. Without his accountability, I wouldn't have been able to be as successful with my transformation.

I have always been working out and dieting, but I was never able to see a difference in my efforts. After working with Dennis, I lost 10 lbs in 1.5 months, get toned, and got a semi-sixpack for the first time in my life. I was so happy with what I saw that I was able to accomplish with what I learned from Dennis. I am now able to take that knowledge and bring it with me going forward.

I highly recommend working with Dennis. If he has a waitlist, I recommend that you put your name on the list, and wait to work with him. He is worth every penny!

I've been training with Dennis for 2 months and highly recommend him as a personal trainer. Dennis is the right fit if you're looking for someone knowledgeable about strength training and nutrition, detail-oriented, and very communicative.

As a slight Asian man in his 40s looking to gain muscle mass but with no experience in the gym, I wasn't sure what to expect from Dennis. Fast forward two months and I'm now extremely confident in my ability to work out on my own, properly manage my diet, and sustain this for the rest of my life. I'm also already seeing noticeable changes in muscle mass and definition.

Dennis' introductory package of 3 sessions is a low-cost way to see how he conducts a workout and understand what nutritional guidance he provides. I subsequently signed up for a 10-session package which includes workout sessions, creating daily nutrient (macro) goals, and a personalized workout routine.

On top of the challenging but fun sessions, Dennis' willingness to answer my questions (including meal choices, tracking and adjusting macros, finding a long-term gym, and refinements to the workout plan created for me) has been invaluable. There's way too much information available on the internet, and Dennis has provided me with the answers that fit my specific goals.

I can't recommend Dennis enough, especially if you're someone who's looking to establish healthy, long-term routines for your exercise and diet.

I have been training with Dennis for about 3 months and a 5 star rating just doesn't do him justice. He is definitely worth way more than that! I had a baby and gained quite a bit of "baby weight". Four years later, my son is thriving and I'm still holding on to the extra lbs. I contacted Dennis right before Covid-19 hit and shut everything down but he told me that he would keep in touch. Thankfully, he was true to his word and contacted me when the shelter in place restrictions eased up. I was thrilled when he told me that he could take me on as a client. In the short time that I've worked with Dennis, I've already noticed a difference both in how I feel and look. I meet with him weekly for one-on-one training, try to run 2 -3 days and do an at-home workout that he created for me. I've been seeing Dennis for over a little over a year now and he's played a significant role in my weight loss journey (70+ lbs over the past 4 years). Through a combination of focused training and nutritional guidance I've never been stronger or in better physical shape in my entire life (just turned 51). Dennis has been instrumental in helping me push back years upon years of neglect in my own physical fitness.  His fitness philosophy is perfect for a science-based person like myself.  No gimmicks, no supplements, no BS.  Just a solid program (including diet) and tons of hard work.  I feel very secure with him as my trainer because all I need to bring is a good attitude and my own will power.  The rest is taken care of.  I unequivocally recommend him as a trainer.  I still have long long long way to go but I definitely do not feel as daunted as before.  If you're ridiculously out of shape like me (to be fair, round is a shape), or you have limits based on healthcare issues, or you already are fit and want to take it to the next level, I strongly believe that you need Dennis in your corner.

As far as personality, the best way I can think of to describe him is a quiet professional.  This is perfect for me. He is friendly and approachable but won't distract you from the workout.  Dennis is very attuned to your performance and will push up right up to the line where you can't do anymore.  For instance, I thought he was just being nice setting up and taking down all the equipment.  No...that may be part of it...but by the end of our sessions, I'm just trying to stay upright so that help is deeply appreciated

I joined about 3 weeks ago with Dennis for the introductory package. I've never gotten personal training but have always heard scary story from others that their trainer is not professionally trained. I went with a consultation with Dennis about a week before my training discussing my goals and fitness level. Dennis was great at listening to me and tailoring the training program based on my fitness level while still challenges me every single session. I was sore for 3 days after our first session. Man, was I out of shape. Dennis was responsive, knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to get back in shape and jump start their fitness journey. Dennis is really knowledgeable and has taught me a lot already just completing his introductory package. His whole philosophy is if I can help you learn and build good habits for the future, then he has really done his job.

I've been to other personal trainers and they have been OKAY at best but Dennis breaks it down so everything is easy to understand. He listens to what your goals are and comes up with a detailed plan to best achieve it.

He feels more like a friend than trainer to be honest, but he'll put you to work so don't get it twisted. He is very good about responding to texts and emails, almost immediately. 10/10 recommend.

Dennis is a really excellent trainer and fitness expert. He works out of Raise the Bar fitness on Judah St which has easy free parking on the street. The gym itself has good equipment and most of the time plenty of space to work.

As a trainer Dennis is extremely professional, organized and great to work with. He knows his stuff and creates unique fitness programs that includes Hit sessions, lifting and whatever is needed to customize it to meet your goals. He pushes his clients, but on top of the working out side he also incorporates his knowledge of nutrition to manage your Macros. He'll set you targets and manage what you eat - as we all know, Abs are built in the kitchen !

Dennis works from early - 5am ! And he's very popular so definitely get in touch with him directly to make it onto his client list. It suits me well as he likes to lock in the times a few weeks ahead or set regular weekly slots and he always sends a reminder text the day before.

If you want to make a change, and learn do things right in the gym then I would highly recommend Dennis!

Dennis is an excellent personal trainer. I kick started training with the 3  introduction sessions. Then I took two 24 session packages and now I will be taking the third 24 session package. This is an evidence that I am highly satisfied with his services.

I searched for a personal trainer to fit my personality for 3 months. Dennis isn't the trainer to instruct you to run on a treadmill or do a set of curls while he sits on his phone. He takes your health/fitness very serious. Dennis was with me every step of the way, correcting my form and giving me that extra push. He will develop a MacroDiet for you and perform weekly weigh-ins to tweak it to better fit your body type. I was blown away with his attention to detail.  

I sustained a knee injury while hiking and was unable to attend sessions. Even then Dennis would still follow up with me to see how my progression was going with physical therapy.

If you're looking for a trainer to give you special attention and genuinely care about your health/fitness success, then look no further!

Dennis is an awesome trainer! This is my first time signing up for a personal trainer, and to be honest I was really intimidated at first. As soon as I met Dennis for the consultation, I knew he was the right person to help me achieve my goals.  I never thought working out was fun, but Dennis tailored each workout according to my needs and made each session something to look forward to. He encouraged me to reach my limits, but also understood that I had limits. I have an arm injury and he was able to create workouts that  strengthened it. Hopefully with more sessions it will be good as new.  Every session with Dennis is like working out with a friend. He's motivating and at the same time has great conversations during resting periods. I recently finished my trial sessions with Dennis and couldn't be happier with his work ethic and professionalism. So much so that I decided to jump into the 24-session package. Foremost, he's been very diligent in communicating and responding to emails and texts, which I feel sets the tone for the rest of his service.

During our first session, he was very realistic with goal setting. He was attentive to my physical limitations and personal health goals, and took studious notes of my progress during our workouts which he uses to continually adjust and adapt the routines to  my evolving goals.

Diet has been the biggest struggle for me, and Dennis recommended a diet app to keep track of my eating habits and is very knowledgeable in offering nutritional suggestions when I ask.

During our sessions, Dennis is constantly offering clear and effective feedback for getting the most out of each exercise- a telltale sign that he's paying close attention. He makes small adjustments in posture and movements that are immediately felt, and I leave each session feeling like I got the most out of the hour.

It is clear that Dennis has a passion for his work, and his dedication to his job shows through the results that he's able to get out of you and the fact that I look forward to working out.

I found Dennis searching for the impossible scenario: a trainer who could work with my motivated but underweight 15-yr old son (kept falling off the weight charts) and me (his 55-yr old Mom).  NOT an easy dynamic. I recently completed the Introductory Package which included 3 sessions with Dennis and I am very happy about the experience.  

We had a great initial consultation (complimentary) and he took the time to get to know me and my goals.  He kept in touch daily to track my diet and progress.  The workouts were demanding, included the entire body and elevated my heart rate -- nonstop for 60 minutes.  

Dennis was awesome.  He is very nice and always explained and demonstrated every exercise.  The workouts were never boring because he infused variety in every circuit.  He pushed me to do more and it led to positive results, in less than 3 weeks, I gained muscle, tightened my body and dropped 4 pounds.

Facilities: Very nice private gym, so it was not crowded.  The equipment was up-to-date and well maintained, lots of variety and options to whip you into shape.

This is a long overdue review.  I've been training with Dennis for more than 2 years (twice a week) and I've made great progress.  Dennis is very knowledgeable about weight training and nutrition.  He even helped me with developing training routines that I could do on my own during the week so that it complements what we were doing in our training sessions.   He also provided nutrition macros and adjusted them as I lost fat and gained muscles.  Dennis is always available to answer any questions I have about weight training or nutrition.  Some people think that just by working out with a trainer you will see significant changes.....ummm.......NOT.  You will also need to be committed to making a body transformation and workout on your own time and eat healthy wholesome foods that support your macro goals.  You didn't gain weight in just a few months so you won't lose all the fat you want to in a few months.  Sorry but that's reality.  :-)  Be patient and trust the process and you'll see the results overtime as you train with Dennis.

I would highly recommend Dennis and if he has no openings, put your name on his waitlist.  It's worth waiting for an open slot. I've had several trainers in the past and Dennis is by far the BEST!!!!

Dennis is an excellent trainer. For as long as I can remember I have always struggled with my weight, I have cycled through my fair amount of trainers and diets and nothing I ever tried worked.

I found Dennis on yelp and he seemed to have tons of great reviews, after reaching out to him, he responded within less than a day! Prior to any of the actual workout sessions, we met up for in-person conversation to talk about what I like in a trainer, my goals, and his training and diet method. Dennis is extremely knowledgeable about fitness as well as eating habits, which made me trust his method and judgement.

I started off with the 3-session starter pack and at my second session, purchased a 24-pack of sessions. Out of all the trainers I have trained with, Dennis is by the far best trainer. He not only is with you a 100% of the time, but takes the time to actually to teach you the correct forms and exercises. He also designed a personal Macro-based diet for myself, which has been pretty easy to follow. Dennis also, always texts me prior to sessions and keeps an organized file with my weight, macros, sessions, and work-out plans. He truly designs a personal fitness plan for each one of his clients and is 100% supportive of you and your goals.

He is also really fun, I know working out can get boring, but Dennis always keeps it interesting, I never come in and do the same thing. His personality as well is overall fun and encouraging, he really knows how to push his clients to succeed. It's always a good time when I go in for my session and I always leave feeling really good about myself! He's just an awesome person!

I've been working out for 15+ years and have successfully lost 20 lbs on my own after I packed on some weight from having too much fun when I first moved to SF about 10 years ago. I consider myself pretty fit and disciplined with working out but last year no matter what I ate or how much I worked out my body was not responding anymore. Dennis is a great personal trainer. The first thing he helped me with was adjust my diet and I like that he is constantly tailoring my diet according to my progress, energy level, and any special events (weddings, beach vacations, etc). I have tried so many different 'diets' on my own over the last 2 years (paleo, low carb/high protein, high carb/low protein, cleanses) which might work short term but over time realized they weren't sustainable. As someone who loves food Dennis has made the 'diet' portion a lot more bearable and I still have a lot of energy to workout since he focuses on 'flexible dieting'. Dennis is a great motivator during our workout sessions and has taught me that lifting heavy weights will not make me bulky or thick. Dennis is always accessible whenever I have questions and keeps me motivated by checking up on me between sessions.

Since I started training with Dennis I have received a lot of compliments on my progress and physique. Not only has Dennis taught me how to change up my workouts and diet and get closer to my goals, but i have gained a lot of confidence, which to me is invaluable.

Ok if you're reading this you're probably interested in getting into shape. For the record I am also a  trainer and have been training for well over 7+ years. I thought I knew it all already but Dennis has definitely impressed me with his knowledge and experience.

I've known Dennis for a number of years now and I can truthfully say that he is a not only an excellent and knowledgeable trainer but a very well disciplined athlete. These are two VERY important attributes that are necessary for people to achieve fitness success.  (Nothing is more off putting than a trainer that is out of shape)

If I were researching for a trainer and ready to spend my money for their guidance, knowledge, and expertise I would ask many questions and I can assure you that Dennis is always more than happy and willing to point you in the right direction.

I wanted to get in shape and toned for my wedding. I've been working out on and off for a while but wasn't really seeing results. This review is for Dennis' online coaching program. I started the program 4 weeks ago and am already seeing awesome results! I am someone who is active and works out 4-5 days a week, but I wanted to incorporate weight training into my workouts. I met Dennis in person for an initial consult and we discussed my fitness goals. Dennis is a really nice guy!  I was worried that he would be judgemental or intimidating, but I felt comfortable talking to him. He took my weight and BMI and from there he created a full weight lifting routine for me to do each week on my own. In addition to a workout routine, Dennis calculates my daily calorie and macro intake. I text him my weight each morning, and at the end of each week, physique photos. He'll make adjustments if needed. I'm currently on week 4 and loving my progress! With the online coaching program, you have to be motivated to do the workouts on your own and meal prep. But once you make it part of your daily routine, you'll love the results!

If you're looking for an approachable and knowledgeable trainer, Dennis is your man ! I was looking for a trainer who would 1. Help me lose weight 2. Teach me how to properly use equipment and proper form 3. Be non-intimidating. Dennis has helped with all of these. He is friendly, yet extremely approachable . He knows when you can workout harder or when you need a break and caters every session towards your progress. He will "assign" you to certain allotment of macros to aid your fitness goals. It's been a rather very long time since I've seriously worked out. Wanting to get back into a gym routine along with some help working on form and other various things, I decided that a personal trainer would be the best fit for me as all of this can be rather very intimidating initially. Finding a personal trainer that was the right fit for me was the next step, but thankfully that turned out to be much easier than I thought! I ran across Dennis' Yelp page by chance and decided that his location would be the most convenient with me with plenty of parking (also the fact that he and I have the same name) and decided to give him a try. I have spent almost a month or so now with Dennis twice a week now and can say that I truly recommend him to the fullest! Dennis is very personable, friendly, and is extremely knowledgeable! He listened to my goals, was very accommodating towards them, and immediately set me up on a step-by-step process of slowly helping me achieve them. Although it's only been a month in, I am already seeing very good results and I plan on sticking with him as my trainer for the long run. No gimmicks, no "magic diet", no nonsense stuff, just a simple yet effective plan to follow. Dennis may be more expensive than other trainers, but is more than worth what you pay for!

I'm not at all surprised that Dennis has 5 stars across the board.

As a female never having trained with a male trainer, I was nervous before setting up an initial session with him. But during our first meeting, I found him to be personable, honest, and knowledgeable about what he does.

In the 6+ months I've been working with him, I've been able to lift more than I thought I could do on my own (which was one of my major goals) in addition to losing a bit of fat and gaining muscle. Even though he and I both know that I could be more consistent with my macros, he never makes me feel guilty for being off track. His training sessions can be pretty tough, but I look forward to them because I enjoy his style of training and I feel like I'm training with a friend and not just a trainer. He is able to push me just out of my comfort zone and modify as needed.

I highly recommend Dennis if you want help with getting results (losing fat/gaining muscle & strength) with a realistic approach.

Before training with Dennis, I have been going to the gym on and off only to get dismal results / no noticeable difference. I'm a hard-gainer, have extraordinarily high metabolism, weigh only 146 lbs and almost 6 ft tall. Sometimes I try to follow the workout routine on youtube, but didnt follow through consistently. Things began to change when I decided to train with Dennis Wu.

For one thing, Dennis is very passionate in helping his clients achieve their goals. He put a lot of emphasis on my diets / macro, and set a goal to gain roughly 2.5 lbs a week. It was hard in the beginning, as I didnt use to eat that much, and with the help of the macro-tracking app, I am able to bump up my protein drastically. Today I weigh 154 lbs and still on-going. I never would have imagined that I can actually gain. He is always ready to answer your question about food, how often you eat, and how much you eat. I find this to be very important.

We workout roughly twice a week; each session is an hour long. Dennis is highly flexible, and would try to accommodate and work with the client's schedule. The first thing I learn is you should always train different part of your muscle via compound exercise, for instance, you want to bench press, then do a lat pull down, then do the rowing, the back squat, and so on. He switched up the intensity, and teaches me different techniques and workout regimes. He also emphasized a lot on the legs muscle with lunges etc, and not just the upper body.

Thanks to Dennis, I can now see noticeable difference! will update again in a few weeks!

Dennis is so fun to workout with. I started out not knowing how to do anything correctly. My squatting and lifting postures were all wrong, i was skipping certain foods because i thought it would cause weight gain, and i just hated working out in general. Where do I even start. If you need a trainer, look no further. Dennis is very knowledgeable and will push you to your limits. I had been going to the gym and working out for a while and my body had begun to plateau. I wasn't really seeing changes anymore and the workouts I was doing started becoming monotonous. I could try doing it on my own, but I didn't know what I should do, this was when I asked Dennis to train me. The workouts he had me do got me sweating in less than 10 mins. It was a mix of weight lifting and plyo. Dennis is seriously as good as personal fitness trainers can get! Three things I like the most about Dennis -- his dedication, sincerity and depth of knowledge (what more can you ask for from your trainer!). He is always on time, never cancelled on me (yes, I've had prior experience of trainers cancelling on me 30 minutes before the session!), he diligently takes notes of what exercises I am doing, and keeps track of my progress. I am no expert on fitness training but if I compare Dennis with other trainers I have had before, he has a wealth of knowledge. He calibrates my food intake in terms of macros according to my weight, fat percentage and exercises I do. He also makes sure that I work on all parts of my body. Above all, he gives undivided attention during those 60 minutes I train with him and he also makes sure I get every cent's worth during those 60 minutes. It's been two months since I started to train with him and I am already seeing results. I think Dennis is a full package and it's rare to come across such trainers these days.

Of course we all thought in the past that this & this trainer would be great at achieving the goals we've wanted but in actuality we thought about this step for maybe a couple of days & never again. Dennis is super laid back and flexible in terms of scheduling, which is extremely helpful with my work schedule. His training style is non-judgmental, but also super motivating. He knows how to push his clients to succeed and see results without the intimidation factor that might cause some people, especially beginners, to give up too early. Whatever your fitness goals are, I highly recommend reaching out to Dennis for a jump start.

I always hated working out. I had an Orange Theory membership and I use to go consistently 3-4 times a week but I wasn't seeing results. I felt like it was a good overall workout but it didn't focus on areas I want to specifically work on.

I've never had a trainer before but I was looking for trainers around my neighborhood in the Sunset and came across Dennis' yelp page. I started with an introductory package of 3 sessions. Immediately after my first workout, he sent me an email about my current macros for my daily intake. Each session, we would focus our set of workouts on core, arms, or legs. Not gonna lie, I was super sore for a couple days after those first sessions...lol but it felt really good!

I decided to continue training with Dennis and got the 15 session package. Right now, I train with him 2x a week at 5am in the morning. I know...SUPER EARLY but it's the only time slot he had available! Dennis is super responsive through text whenever I had any questions. He was always very accommodating and flexible if I needed to reschedule our sessions. He is very knowledgeable about weight training and nutrition. He makes the sessions and workouts comfortable and enjoyable. For someone who has never weight trained, I appreciated that Dennis listened and didn't push and gradually added more weight to help me build more muscle. After about 2 months of training now, I have so much more energy when I wake up every morning! I would highly recommend Dennis as your personal trainer!!!

I've been training with Dennis for almost 2 months now and I can say that he is a very passionate and experienced trainer. My training goal has always been to lose fat and Dennis designs the fitness plan that works best for me. He is very enthusiastic and supportive when it comes to training his client, he not only keeps track on the progress but also modifies his program accordingly. I would say two of the hardest parts of wanting to better yourself physically is getting in the right mindset and doing it correctly.  I've worked with Dennis for the past 3 weeks and i can say that those two things become easy when you work with him.  You first meet up and he genuinely wants to hear about every single one of your goals, and then proceeds to set up a plan to reach it.  I've asked him every single question that has come up in my mind, and he has thorough knowledge on every subject in fitness.  There is no BS when he tells you about anything.  If it's good for you, he will let you know and if it's a waste of time he will say it too.  You will get the feeling that he wants you to succeed just as much as you want it.

I'm excited to continue working with him and will update with progress as this goes on!

I am a 60 something-year-old guy. At 6 feet and 204 pounds, I was having a lot of lower back and joint pain and had been in physical therapy where my physical therapist told me "if you just strengthened your core I think you would be a lot better." After a while, I came to the conclusion that I was not going to be able to do this on my own and began looking for a personal trainer. I came across Dennis. I had 2 goals: lose 20 pounds and strengthen my core.

We trained for about a year. Over that time, my core got strong and my back pain went away. After about 6 months, I suggested that we step up strength training and I got noticeably stronger. At the beginning I was not able to do 10 push-ups. By the end of our work together I was able to do 3 sets of 15. Oh, and I lost 30 pounds.

About 6 months ago I tore my rotator cuff lifting a suitcase into the trunk of the car and have not been able to train. My recovery has been much quicker because I was in such good shape at the time of the injury. Even though we have not trained, Dennis has remained in touch and has continued to offer support and advice. That's just the kind of guy he is. I'm looking forward to returning in the near future, at least to resume lower body and core work.

If anyone was looking for a trainer, I couldn't recommend Dennis highly enough.

Before talking to Dennis, I was training to do my first pull-up. It was overwhelming- I didn't know whether my workouts to build upper body strength were helping or if I was even starting in the right place! Although I received tips from friends on how to train, I found no progress. I eventually wanted to consult with a professional.
From Dennis, I learned how to organize my workouts throughout the week and how to calculate macros. His interest towards helping his clients showed as he asked questions regarding personal goals, current diet, and more in order to create a better exercise and eating plan. His advice and guidance helped me make it to my current max of 8 pull-ups!!
Dennis reciprocated questions with thought-out answers; he patiently explained questions that I had, such as the differences in protein powder or why workouts were arranged in a particular way. Dennis is not only knowledgeable in his field, he also genuinely looks forward to see improvements as much as his clients. I would recommend Dennis to people who are looking to reach their fitness goals, whether it be to look better or to get stronger. :))

The best thing about working with Dennis is he gauges your program based on your performance for the day and overall progress so it is always tailored to you and challenges you in the best ways. Dennis is an awesome trainer! When I began training with him, he first got a good idea of where I was coming from and asked intently about my goals. Throughout the time that I have trained with him, Dennis really desires to have clients reach the goals they have set from themselves. Whenever training with him, he always wants you to get in a really good workout. He is always encouraging and is very knowledgeable. Dennis also creates a Macros diet for you to help with weight loss or muscle building. He is very flexible with scheduling and really wants to see people be the best they are able to be! I would recommend Dennis if you want to be challenged and reach your goals!
